11/15/06-COBB COUNTY- Cobb County School Board members approved the use of 26.2 million dollars for the development of Jonquil Village in downtown Smyrna during a special meeting held Tuesday night. The board voted 6-1 to allow developers access to the TAD bond money, clearing the last major hurdle before development can begin on the 130+ million dollar project located at intersection of Atlanta and Spring Roads. 10/04/06-SMYRNA- An official groundbreaking is still a few months away but Jonquil Village is open for business on the World Wide Web. Information on the project, which will replace the aging Jonquil Plaza shopping center at the corner of Atlanta and Spring Roads, is available on the official website, www.jonquilvillage.com. 8/30/06- SMYRNA- When it opened nearly 50 years ago, Jonquil Plaza brought the first modern supermarket to Smyrna. Now, as the original owner’s son prepares a $110 million dollar redevelopment, Jonquil Village is proud to announce it will once again change the face of grocery shopping in Smyrna. Jonquil Village, a mixed used development planned to replace the aging Jonquil Plaza shopping center and surrounding properties at the corner of Atlanta Road and Spring Street, will be anchored by a Publix grocery store.
